Career So Far
I got into cybersecurity back in 2019 when I realized that security-related topics just clicked for me, and by December of 2022 I will have my bachelor's in cybersecurity from Kennesaw State University.
In summer 2021 I managed to get an internship with the city of Kennesaw and helped them with various projects such as rebuilding their update servers and using python to restructure 20+ years of file structures. I was tasked with getting familiar with their email protection, Proofpoint, along with aiding in their Security and Education Training and Awareness programs (SETA). We used various methods of gauging and training where our security posture stood such as phishing emails. While there I also helped to rewrite their security policies and onboarding security training.
Shortly after my internship ended I got a job as a mid-size IT MSP ServIT. I was given the responsibilities of running processes on IBMI power systems and running various clients' backups, data refreshes, and system maintenance overnights. I also got to work on level 1 and 2 helpdesks. Being an MSP, the helpdesk saw everything from basic helpdesk issues to firewall configurations, malware mitigation, incident response, minor disaster recovery, small forensics task, data recovery and backups, and much more. In summer 2022 I accepted a CO-OP position there on top of my job and got to work on projects too such as the automation of active directory audits and of-boarding processes mostly in Powershell. These automation projects will help to ensure nothing in AD will slip in between the cracks.
